Dentist Wycombe

Advice

  • You will be numb for a few hours after the extraction so do not bite or chew your lip or tongue.  It is best not to eat or drink anything hot until feeling returns.
  • Do not rinse or spit for 24 hours after the extraction as this can disrupt the socket and could cause Dry Socket.
  • Do take paracetamol or your own preferred type of painkiller for pain as and when you need it.  Do not exceed the manufactures instructions
  • Do take it easy for the rest of the day, no exercising or exerting yourself as this can cause the socket area to bleed.
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not consume alcohol
  • Depending on how you feel, soft food such as egg, pasta etc would be best until you feel ready to resume your normal diet
  • Brush your teeth as normal the evening of the extraction, but do not rinse.
  • After 24 hours rinse 3-5 times a day with a warm salt water rinse.  We would advise that you do this after eating as well.  One teaspoon of salt in water as hot as you can tolerate.  Hold the salt water in your mouth around the socket for 20-30 seconds.
  • Consider replacing the tooth as adjacent teeth can start to move.
  • Any issues, do not hesitate to get in contact
