Invisalign First, also known as Phase 1 or early interceptive, is a treatment option for ages 6-10. It is designed to intercept and fix a problem that could potentially become more serious. 

A second course of treatment is almost always required in the teenage years.

Its primary function is to develop the arch form and maintain space for the developing adult teeth, but it can also:

What type of Invisalign Treatment is right for me?

If your teeth require minimal movement to get them into the ideal position, using Invisalign lite or i7 may be possible. This system uses fewer aligners and is also less expensive. It is an excellent system for more straightforward cases. For example, make small adjustments to the position of only your front teeth. It is ideal for patients who had braces when younger but the teeth have now moved. 

In cases that are more complex and where the teeth need more movement, the Invisalign full system will be necessary. This system has all the functionality of fixed braces. 

Each Invisalign system has its benefits, but, unfortunately, we cannot answer this without first seeing you and assessing your unique bite.  However, we will find the best option for you and your goals.

What is better, Invisalign or traditional fixed braces?

Traditional fixed braces have been around for decades.  With newer research and technology, they have progressed over time; an example is the self-lighting Damon brackets, compared to the original brackets. Traditional fixed braces are the gold standard in orthodontics; they are superior and precise.  

On the other hand, Invisalign entered the market in 1998; dentists didn’t even create it; rather, it was created by a computer scientist at Stanford University in America, and it has completely revolutionised dentistry and orthodontics.

Over the past 20 years, Invisalign has completed a lot of research and planning in its design to the point that Invisalign is almost on par with traditional braces in what can be achieved.

If the results are similar, then which system is better for me?

Fixed braces can take anywhere from 12-24 months, depending on severity; the average time is normally 16-18months.

Depending on the severity, Invisalign can take 4-8 months or even up to 12+ months.  Invisalign retainers must be worn for 22 hours a day, or you will not achieve the results that you would expect.

Generally, Invisalign is effective for mild-moderate cases or cases concerning your front teeth, whereas fixed braces are extremely effective for moderate to severe cases.
