We specialise in treating nervous patients
Did you know that 34% of the UK fear the dentist’s chair? And a further 17% of the British population suffer from Trypanophobia, a phobia of needles.
As dentists, we are very used to dealing with anxious patients, and we have a few tips to help you with your journey.
Never be embarrassed
We never want anyone to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed about their smile or fear of the dentist. If this is something that concerns you, then please be open and honest with us. You’ll be surprised at what we can do to help alleviate any concerns.
If you would like to bring anything to help you relax or distract you, let us know. Perhaps you would like to get your iPod or listen to music or an audiobook on your phone. We can even help make sure it is charged.
Once you meet us and get to know us, you can start to relax. It may take a few appointments to get to this stage, and that is fine; we can go at your pace.
Predictable Pain Reducing Injections
We know that having any injection is uncomfortable; different sites and tissue varieties in the mouth can promote a different sensation.
Due to these factors, we have honed our skills in delivering pain-reducing injections. We will always use a numbing gel first to make it as comfortable as possible. We have found that providing the anaesthetic slowly is the most gentle method.
This is the perfect treatment for people who are particularly anxious or may need work done sooner and cannot acclimatise. Sedation will allow you to experience a very relaxed state.
We offer intravenous or IV sedation. This is where a sedative is injected in a controlled manner into your body. It will make you feel very relaxed, and sometimes people fall asleep.
