Implant-Supported Bridges

Losing multiple teeth is undoubtedly a life-changing experience, and until you’ve gone through it yourself, you’ll never know how terrible it can really make you feel.

The ultimate solution

The Best Solution for Multiple Missing Teeth in a Row

Not only do you have to cope with aesthetic changes, but your ability to eat and speak confidently can also be hindered.

So, if you’re looking for a quick but long-lasting solution that will perfectly mimic the rest of your smile, implant-supported bridges should undoubtedly be your first consideration.

Unlike traditional bridges or dentures, implant-supported bridges will provide long-term, unparalleled stability and durability (not to mention comfort), which means you can live freely without worrying about your smile (at least for the next 20+ years).

Explaining implant-supported bridges

An implant-supported bridge is a dental prosthetic that replaces multiple missing teeth in a row. For example, using just one implant, we can replace up to two teeth if you have a tooth remaining on the other side of the gap.

Unlike traditional dental bridges, implant-supported bridges do not rely on natural teeth’ support, as the restoration is anchored to the implant instead. Dental implants use titanium posts surgically placed into the jaw to mimic natural tooth roots.

The cost of an implant-supported bridge:

The cost of an implant-supported bridge will vary and mainly depends on the number of teeth you have missing.

For example, the more implants we use to replace multiple teeth, the more you can expect your treatment to cost.

However, patients can expect costs starting from £3,000 to £10,000.

The cost for implant-supported bridges is certainly more expensive than traditional, alternative treatments. Still, when considering the long-term benefits like durability, stability, aesthetics and bone preservation, dental implants are the best investment and will be more worthwhile.

The implant-supported bridge process

  1. Consultation and planning: We’ll assess your oral health with a paid-for consultation, which will take 3D scans of your jaw to examine the quality of bone and your suitability for dental implants.
  2. Implant placement: Our implant surgeon will place titanium implants into your jawbone, which will require around 12 weeks of healing time to allow the implants to fuse successfully with the bone in the jaw.
  3. Abutment and bridge placement: After the implants have integrated and healed, we’ll install small connectors called abutments, connecting your natural-looking bridge prosthetic to the implant.

Why patients opt for implant-supported bridges over other options

When compared against bridges or dentures, implant-supported bridges tend to offer several key benefits, for example:

  • Stability: As the prosthetic is anchored to dental implants in the jaw, as opposed to relying on healthy adjacent teeth or even suction, implant-supported bridges offer unmatched stability that looks, feels and functions just like natural teeth.
  • Bone preservation: As dental implants act like natural tooth roots, they continue to stimulate the bone in the jaw, preventing resorption and bone loss, which commonly occurs with alternative treatment options like dentures.
  • Longest-lasting solution: Dental implants, with the right care, can last up to 25 years (the implant itself can last forever, where the prosthetic might need updating over time).
  • No damage to existing teeth: Unlike traditional bridges, which require natural, adjacent teeth to be filed down to be placed, dental implants avoid damaging natural, healthy teeth for support and instead keep surrounding teeth healthy and intact.
  • Enhanced function, comfort and aesthetics: Unlike dentures, for example, which can frequently become loose, unstable and slip, causing the patient discomfort, implant-supported bridges provide a firm and comfortable biting and talking experience.
