Dental FAQs

Read through common patient questions to discover more of what we offer here at Chapel Dental and what we can do for you.

Our emergency appointments are available to both new and existing patients across Wycombe. You do not need to be registered to receive this service. Call us on 01628 810024 for an emergency appointment today, or click here to learn more about what we offer.

The cost of a check-up will vary on whether you’re a new or existing patient. Patients can expect to pay:

  • New Patient Exam (including X-Rays and a 3D scan) £120
  • Routine Examinations with dentist £64

There may be additional costs if specific services are rendered, or further diagnostics are necessary. Estimates and final costs are always provided before we progress with any work.

The cost of the two exams vary because a new patient check-up is a more thorough, comprehensive assessment of your teeth, gums and bite. Remember, we’re meeting you for the first time and building our own records of your smile to establish a dental history, so your initial appointments involve a 3D scan and x-rays to better assess your oral health. A routine appointment simply addresses any existing concerns and assesses for any changes to your smile within the last six months.

It’s easy to register as a patient. Either get in touch with us on Live Chat, via email or telephone. Or fill out this online form here. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions, we’ll be happy to guide you through the registration process and ensure all the necessary paperwork is complete before your first visit.

Absolutely. We know that dental anxiety, fears and phobias are common and our dentists and wider staff are trained in various techniques to make your appointment more comfortable. For example, we use relaxation methods like gentle communication as well as sedation options to help you feel more comfortable during your visit.

If you experience a panic attack during your appointment, our dental team is trained to handle such situations with care and empathy. We’ll take measures to help you relax and ensure your safety until you feel better.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring a friend or family member for support during your appointment if it helps you feel more at ease. It’s not uncommon, especially during family visits.

If you’re a registered patient, who has had their first check-up with us, you’ll be free to book and schedule appointments specifically with our hygienist for routine cleans and preventive care whenever you deem necessary to do so. Learn more about our hygiene services and deep cleans.

With Chapel Dental, it’s possible to spread the cost of your treatments monthly. We offer various payment options and plans, which includes dental finance to help our patients manage the cost of their treatments. Speak with us to explore your options.

Typically, your first appointment may last around 60 to 90 minutes to allow for a comprehensive examination, dental history review, and discussion of any treatment recommendations.

At our practice, we understand the need for flexibility. That’s why we offer extended hours outside of normal hours to accommodate our patient’s schedules. For example, we’re open late on Mondays (until 7pm).

As a private dentist, we offer better availability for patients. Alongside this, our scheduling system is designed minimise wait times and always prioritise patients in need of emergency dental care, so you can trust that all patients are seen in a timely manner, with no huge waiting lists or back-log of patients that need to be seen.

We kindly ask patients for at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule their appointments, which allows us to offer the time slot to another patient, who might be in need of dental care.

Failure to give 48 hours notice will result in your deposit being charged as a cancellation fee.  We understand that exceptional circumstances can happen, however, it is up to the discretion of the management team whether the cancellation fee will be waived. Learn more.

The frequency of check-ups depends on your individual oral health needs. Generally, we recommend scheduling a dental check-up every six months to maintain optimal oral health and catch any issues early.

Of course, we know it’s important to understand your treatment before booking in and to help you alleviate any concerns you might have. Feel free to contact our time at any time with any questions – call 01628 810024.

We stand behind the quality of our work and strive to ensure patient satisfaction. However, guarantees may vary depending on the type of treatment provided. We’ll discuss any guarantees applicable to your specific treatment plan during your appointment or consultation.

Regular dental visits are essential for maintaining good oral health. We recommend scheduling check-ups every six months, although individual needs may vary. For example, if you have gum disease, you might require more regular hygiene sessions every three months or so.

When choosing a dentist, consider factors such as their qualifications, experience, patient reviews, location, and range of services offered. You might also want to look our for GDC-registered dentists and proof of this, alongside CQC checks and inspections. Meet our team.

Dental exams are crucial for detecting oral health issues early, preventing dental problems, and maintaining overall oral hygiene and thus, ensuring a long-lasting healthy smile.

Dental X-rays are safe when performed with proper precautions and are essential for detecting dental issues not visible to the naked eye, such as cavities, bone loss, and impacted teeth.

Depending on your dental needs, you may require improved care from a specialist such as an orthodontist, periodontist, or endodontist. We can provide referrals as needed.

A free consultation allows you to meet with our team, often a treatment co-ordinator, rather than a dentist to discuss your dental concerns and treatment options without any financial obligation. It’s an opportunity to ask questions and learn about potential solutions tailored to your needs and learn about their procedure, maintenance and price. It’s also an opportunity to look into dental finance.
