What are Composite Veneers?

Composite Veneers involve placing a tooth-coloured composite resin onto the tooth’s surface.  This can usually be done in one appointment in the dentist’s surgery.

Placing a composite is quicker and cheaper than placing a porcelain veneer. See porcelain veneers.

Do I need my teeth drilled?

Some tooth preparation is required. However, it is very minimal. See process.

How long will they last?

On average composite veneers can last from 3-7 years. They require maintenance, so we would advise an annual visit for them to be checked, polished and any minor repairs completed.

What is the difference between Composite Bonding and Composite Veneers?

A composite veneer covers the whole front surface of the tooth and may require some tooth preparation, whereas composite bonding covers just the edge or a small area on the front of the tooth.

What is the difference between a Composite Veneer and a Porcelain Veneer?

  • Porcelain veneers are made from a stronger, more durable material than composite veneers.
  • Composite veneers are cheaper than a porcelain veneer
  • Porcelain veneers last longer than composite veneers.  A well-cared-for Porcelain veneer can last up to 20 years.
  • Porcelain veneers do not stain as easily as composite veneers
