Marion LewisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I needed a new dentist as my last dental practice had closed so went to Chapel Dental in Flackwell Heath. From the minute I walked through the door I felt comfortable. The first consultation was incredibly thorough. A few days later I arrived with some trepidation for a filling. I had always thought that the injections were the worst part of any treatment. So it was a big surprise when I was told that it was done and we would wait for the numbness to develop. Amazing. Great care was taken and throughout I felt very relaxed. A couple of weeks later I was back to have a faulty bridge removed. Again remarkably painless as was the next visit to remove the temporary and fit the new. Can recommend the practice. Go and meet the team and never be worried about dentists again. I'm almost looking forward to going back next June for a check up. Marion. Sam HumphrissTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Rachel and Erica the receptionist are brilliant. They are the NEW team at Chapel Dental surgery. Whatever problems you may have had in the past couple of years at this surgery are in the past. The first time I attended, the first thing I noticed was Dr.Rachel's award for Best Young Dentist 2021. I went in yesterday to find that she had added 2022 to her collection 🤯. My daughter needed 5 of her baby teeth pulling. She's 11. Great experience and those are her words, not mine. I needed a filling replaced that the previous dentist had done. The attention to detail was reassuring. I mean which dentist tints the filling to make it look better? I could see Dr.Rachel was gleaming with pride at her work at the end of it. That's always a good sign. This is the place if you're after a fun talented dentist and welcoming receptionist All in all a fantastic experience. I was greeted with a warm welcome by Erica who made me feel at ease. The dentist (Rachel) gave me the most thorough check up I have ever had, she also took a scan of my teeth and explained what was going on in my mouth, which I have never had done before. She told me that she would do one every year so she can monitor my dental needs. great service and great value for money, looking forward to seeing you guys in 6 months!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. The only patients we tend not to recommend this treatment to are smokers because the composite materials are not as resistant to staining as porcelain veneers, which means they’ll turn yellow much more quickly, leaving you with stains that you’ll have to repair by having the composite replaced and polished.
Other than that, most patients are great candidates, with only two rules that apply:
- You must be over the age of 18
- You must have healthy gums
Guide to composite bonding:
Patients with chips, cracked or broken teeth can turn to cosmetic bonding for a quick aesthetic fix, which can be applied in just one appointment. Patients can also close gaps between teeth and improve the size and shape of their tooth or shape.
Composite bonding uses a tooth-coloured resin applied to the existing tooth to reshape teeth or improve their existing colour.
Anyone can have composite bonding over 18; it is incredibly good at fixing broken or chipped teeth and masking discoloured teeth.
However, it is very beneficial to have pretty straight teeth. Placing composite bonding onto crooked teeth can cause the material to be thick in some places and thin in others, thus not achieving the optimal aesthetic effect.
It should also be used with caution with people who smoke, as the edge of the composite can stain. We can discuss numerous other treatment options with people who smoke.
Composite bonding is not a permanent procedure, it will typically last between 5-7 years.
Avoid certain habits such as biting your nails or chewing on pen lids. Avoid using your teeth as tools to tear sello-tape or open tops.
Be careful chewing hard foods such as nuts and bones, which can chip and wear natural teeth.
Be mindful of drinking and eating red wine, coffee, and turmeric-based foods (all the good foods!), as these products can stain the composite. Don’t worry if this is your regular diet; you may need to visit us more frequently for polishing and maintenance.
A composite veneer covers the whole front surface of the tooth and may require some tooth preparation, whereas composite bonding covers just the edge or a small area on the front of the tooth.
To bond the resin material, we apply it directly onto the tooth and then craft and shape it as we go. Often described by our patients as pain-free, the procedure requires no local anaesthetic or drilling. Our dentists begin by polishing the teeth and then gently applying the resin material.
No, composite bonding is a resin material which is adhered/applied and sculpted directly onto the tooth.
One advantage of composite bonding is that it does not require removing or etching enamel, which is the typical process with porcelain veneers. Thus, it is a non-invasive treatment option.
Veneers and composite bonding target and treat the same oral conditions. While veneers are the most expensive option in this case, they are priced higher for a reason.
Porcelain is a very strong and highly durable material. It is stain-resistant and can last for a lifetime. Veneers are permanent procedures that cannot be reversed. This is due to the slight etching of enamel off of the front surface of the tooth to prepare it.
